About Environmental Health

The Environmental Health Department is responsible for administering and enforcing the procedures, standards, and regulations adopted by the County designed to minimize or control those environments and environmental conditions that may adversely affect the health and well being of the public. Such environment and environmental conditions may include, but are not restricted to:

  • Wastewater and wastewater disposal
  • Water supply

Franklin County is excited to announce the launch of a convenient portal to streamline the inspection and permitting process, remove manual submissions and improve communication with our customers.

As of February 28, 2024, all permit applications must be submitted through the customer portal, which can be accessed here: www.franklincoks.org/permitcenter.

With the implementation of the new software, we are now able to accept credit card payments. Please note that there is a processing fee of 3.95%, with a minimum fee of $2.50 per transaction. Payments by cash or check are still accepted in our office.
