ITEM:

Approval of the FFY2004 Juvenile Accountability Block Grant (JABG)

in the amount of $8,404.00.

   Background:

The Juvenile Accountability Block Grant is federal money distributed to states and passed through the administrative counties in each judicial district.  Community Corrections has received these funds for the last five years and allocations have ranged form $27,312.00 in FFY1999 to $19,947.00 in FFY2003.  This grant requires a cash match of approximately 10% from the agency receiving the grant.

For FFY2004, which begins on July 1, 2005, JABG allocations were reduced by 67%.  Community Corrections will receive $7,563.00 and will be required to supply a cash match of $841.00.  These funds will be used to support the Fourth Judicial Districts Juvenile Community Service Work Program, which will employ two contractual community service work coordinators to cover the four counties in the district.  These coordinators assist juveniles in the coordination and completion of their assigned community service work hours.

Recommended Action:

Move to approve the FFY2004 Juvenile Accountability Block Grant (JABG)

in the amount of $8,404.00.

Planning Commission Recommendation:

NA

Attachments:
