BOARD OF FRANKLIN COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
The Board of Commissioners met in a regular session with Chairman John E. Taylor and Commissioners Fred E. Ferguson, Donald C. Hay, Donald R. Stottlemire and Donald E. Waymire present.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Taylor at 8:30.
Darrell Wadkins discussed damage to the Lady Justice statue on the Courthouse. The estimated cost to repair is $2,000. Darrell said our insurance company has given approval to fix. A Company is working on window repairs and painting the windows that are peeling.
Commissioner Hay moved and Commissioner Waymire seconded to approve the minutes for April 5, 2004. All voted “yes.”
Commissioner Hay moved and Commissioner Ferguson seconded to approve tax orders 2003-156 and 2003-155. All voted “yes.”
Blaine Finch discussed that it has been announced that Franklin County has received a Homeland Security grant in the amount of $195,000 through the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Blaine Finch discussed that we have received an All Hazard Grant in the amount of $5,970.
Board discussed a request from John Dowell to allow Lisa Dempsey to attend a seminar concerning DUI law. Board agreed.
Commissioner Waymire moved and Commissioner Stottlemire seconded to go into an executive session for 15 minutes at 9:00 for non-elected personnel with Board, Blaine Finch, Brad Gilges and Shari Perry present. All voted “yes.” Chairman Taylor opened the meeting at 9:15 and reported no action taken, no decisions made.
Commissioner Waymire moved and Commissioner Stottlemire seconded to go into an executive session for 15 minutes at 9:15 for non-elected personnel with Board, Blaine Finch and Brad Gilges present. All voted “yes.” Chairman Taylor opened the meeting at 9:25 and reported no action taken, no decisions made.
Larry Walrod brought John Raney the new Building Official in and introduced him to the Board.
Commissioner Waymire moved and Commissioner Stottlemire seconded to go into an executive session for 25 minutes at 10:20 for the review of applications for the Public Works Administrator position with Board, Blaine Finch and Shari Perry present. All voted “yes.” Chairman Taylor opened the meeting at 10:45 and reported no action taken, no decisions made.
Board discussed running the Public Works Administrator ad again in the Topeka, Wichita and Hutchinson papers.
With no further discussion the meeting was adjourned at 10:52.
