BOARD OF FRANKLIN COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
Chairman Donald R. Stottlemire called the meeting to order at 8:30 and asked all in attendance to join him in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call: Chairman Donald R. Stottlemire present, Commissioner John E. Taylor present, Commissioner Donald C. Hay present, Commissioner Roy C. Dunn present and Commissioner Donald E. Waymire present.
Commissioner Hay moved and Commissioner Waymire seconded to approve the minutes for August 22, 2005. All voted “yes.”
Ron Thornburgh, Secretary of State discussed Help America Vote Act and other duties besides elections that he is responsible.
Derek Schmidt, State Senator discussed eminent domain, taxes, school finance and transportation.
Jason Camis, Franklin County Convention & Visitors Bureau discussed 150th Anniversary of Franklin County celebration. Jason discussed the traveling exhibition from the Smithsonian Institution. Jason requested fund for the first ever Franklin County Farm Tour. They are requesting contributions from businesses in the amount of $100, $300 or $500.
Commissioner Hay moved and Commissioner Waymire seconded to contribute $500 to the Franklin County Convention & Visitors Bureau for the farm tour. All voted “yes.”
Hershel Poor 4363 Vermont Terr discussed wells.
Commissioner Waymire moved and Commissioner Taylor seconded to adopt the agenda with the addition of 10.2 purchase of chairs and 10.3 August 17 minutes. All voted “yes.”
Commissioner Hay moved and Commissioner Dunn seconded to approve the consent agenda item 8.1 approval of publication and payment for Courthouse ad in Kansas Getaway Guide for 2006. All vote “yes.”
Item 10.1 Becky Ortega discussed revising attendance policy to model the policy recommended by KCAMP.
Commissioner Taylor moved and Commissioner Hay seconded to approve Resolution No. 05-87 amending the Franklin County Personnel Rules and Regulations dealing with the County’s Attendance policy. All voted “yes.”
Item 10.2 Ron Henrickson discussed purchasing 11 chairs for his suite in the Annex. The low bid was from Didde’s.
Commissioner Taylor moved and Commissioner Hay seconded to approve the purchase of 11 chairs from Didde Office Supply in the amount of $1,760. All voted “yes.”
Item 10.3 Approval of minutes for August 17 was left tabled.
Ron Henrickson presented the Board with information about address change for Claude Sluder. Board asked for opinion from County Counselor.
Dotty Riley with Kutak Rock LLP discussed basic types of municipal bonds.
With no further discussion the meeting was adjourned at 11:52.
