BOARD OF FRANKLIN COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

Chair Karen S Farrell called the budget study session to order at 8:30 a.m.  All present.

Kristi Lee discussed 2009 proposed Franklin County Visitor’s Center budget and income and expenses for the year.

Board discussed possible items to submit to KAC for inclusion into the upcoming legislative session including wind power, real estate tax exemptions, rail to trails and demand transfers being restored.

Nick Robbins discussed Wellsville Station costs, number of calls, number of moves to Leloup for stand by and the possibility of moving the Ambulance back to the City of Ottawa Fire Department on 2^nd Street.

Recessed at 9:30.  Back in session at 9:45.

Board discussed 2008 audit proposals from Agler & Gaeddert, Schlotterbeck and Burns and Cochran Head Vick and Co.  Board agreed to interview audit firms.

Board discussed purchasing policy and county businesses local preference.  Lisa will update policy and bring to Board.

Board discussed alternative work schedules for county employees.

Board discussed employee benefit survey dealing with health insurance benefits.

Sherry Wright discussed operating budget for Veteran’s Memorial and fund raising.

Recessed at 10:45.  Back in session at 10:55.

Board discussed 2009 proposed operating budgets.

With no further discussion the study session was adjourned at 12:22.
