BOARD OF FRANKLIN COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
Chair Karen S Farrell called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
Roll Call: Chair Karen S Farrell present, Commissioner Donald R. Stottlemire present, Commissioner Donald C. Hay present, Commissioner John E. Taylor present and Commissioner Roy C Dunn present.
Chair Farrell opened the public hearing for the purpose of hearing and answering objections of taxpayers related to the proposed use of all funds and the amount of ad Valorem tax for the 2009 County budget.
Lisa Johnson gave a presentation on 2009 proposed operating budget including revenue sources, valuation and levy comparison, general fund expenditure comparison, chip seal work, Montana Rd Project, Road and Bridge expenditure comparison, new ambulance purchase, Employee Benefits expenditure comparison, Outside Agencies expenditure comparison and valuation/mill levy comparison.
Leroy Hildebrandt 2625 Indiana Terr Ottawa asked why we need an increase in budget, pay raise for commissioners; need to hold line on budget not increase it.
Freone Hollinger 3090 Neosho Rd Ottawa asked about election equipment, mowing of ditches and cost of legal notices.
Tom Weigand 28 Binder Lane Ottawa thanked the Board for there hard work in dealing with difficult issues, taxes at $700 a year breaks down to $2 per day.
Gene Hirt 125 South St Williamsburg talked about cost of fuel, cost of rock, CHIP funds, school district not having assessed valuation or not knowing what figure to use and population decreasing.
Lisa Johnson said all districts were given there valuations in June, CHIP funds in Road and Bridge in the amount of $150,000 and assessed valuations.
Commissioners made comments about budget and budget process.
Commissioner Taylor moved and Commissioner Stottlemire seconded to adjourn at 7:32 p.m. All voted “yes”.
