BOARD OF FRANKLIN COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
Chair Ed Taylor called the study session to order at 8:30 a.m. All present.
Denise O’Dea with USD 289 gave update including: location, mill levy, assessed valuation, bond issues, enrollment numbers and history, teaching staff, other staff, special education, Board of Education and goals with three objectives, accomplishments, partnership with Neosho County Community College, state assessment scores, innovative programs and challenges.
Keith Clark discussed the Kansas Department of Corrections – FY2010 Comprehensive Plan, Current Resources Budget in the amount of $461,665.22 and Reduced Budget in the amount of $438,581.96.
Board recessed at 9:13. Back in session at 9:18.
Jim Haag discussed Terracon proposal to perform sampling and testing near the Acorn Bridge on John Brown Rd. at an estimated cost of $2,400.
Gene Hirt 125 South St Williamsburg discussed other areas on John Brown that he feels needs to have sampling and testing done on also.
Jim Haag discussed KDOT staff preparing the documents for a “402” project on John Brown using ARRA Funds instead of paying Taylor Design.
Larry Walrod discussed Neighborhood Stabilization Program through the Kansas Department of Commerce. It has been concluded that the benefits to Franklin County would not be sufficient to justify the effort required to satisfy the requirements.
Larry Walrod and Lisa Johnson discussed Marais des Cygnes Basin Advisory Committee. Larry stated the five members have commented to re-appointment.
With no further discussion the study session was adjourned at 9:50.
