BOARD OF FRANKLIN COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

 

Chair John E Taylor called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

 

Roll Call: Chair John E Taylor present, Vice Chair Donald R. Stottlemire present, Commissioner Karen S Farrell present, Commissioner Donald C. Hay present, and Commissioner David J Hood present.

 

Chair John E Taylor asked all in attendance to join him in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Invocation led by Reverend Dale Stratton with Pilgrim Bible Church.

 

Chair Taylor read the following proclamation:

 

PROCLAMATION

09-04

Veteran’s Recognition Week

 

Issued by the Board of Franklin County Commissioners

 

 

WHEREAS, today there are many Americans in harms way around the World including  many from the State of Kansas endure daily uncertainty of their fate; and

 

WHEREAS, we as Americans believe that freedom is precious because it has been won and preserved for all at a very great cost; and

 

WHEREAS, the courage, commitment, and devotion to duty demonstrated by those servicemen and women who risk their lives for our sake has moved the hearts of the citizens of Franklin County; and

 

WHEREAS, the dignity, faith, and valor of these servicemen and women reminds us of the allegiance we owe to our nation and its defenders both past and present;

 

NOW, the Board of Franklin County Commissioners, of Franklin County on behalf of its citizens, do hereby proclaim November 6th through 11th, 2009 as

 

 

VETERAN’S RECOGNITION WEEK

 

 

THEREFORE, in support of the veteran’s, the Franklin County Board of Commissioners urges all citizens of Franklin County to join in honoring all veterans with appropriate ceremonies and activities.

 

Commissioner Hay moved and Commissioner Hood seconded to approve Proclamation No 09-04 proclaiming November 6th through 11th, 2009 as Veteran’s Recognition Week.  All voted “yes”.

 

No public comment.

 

Commissioner Hay moved and Commissioner Hood seconded to approve the consent agenda as follows: minutes for October 28, 2009, claim vouchers dated October 31, 2009 in the amount of $236,161.26, tax change orders 2009-25 through 2009-33 and 2009-39 through 2009-44 and payroll dated October 31, 2009 in the amount of $928,063.70.  All voted “yes”.

 

Jim Haag discussed Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Princeton for the purchase of winter mix.

 

Commissioner Hay moved and Commissioner Hood seconded to approve a Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Princeton for the purchase of up to 12 tons of winter mix.  All voted “yes”.

 

Larry Walrod discussed rezoning application #0902-913 for Merlin Barton to rezone approximately 5 acres from A-1 to RE located on the South side of Shawnee Rd approximately ½ mile East of Florida Rd.

Commissioner Hay moved and Commissioner Stottlemire seconded to approve Resolution No. 09-48 rezoning approximately 5 acres owned by Merlin Barton from A-1 to RE located in Section 3, Township 16, Range 18.  All voted “yes”.

 

Larry Walrod discussed rezoning application #0909-964 for Edward Ferguson to rezone approximately 24 acres from A-1 to RE and approximately 10 acres from RE to A-2 and approximately 45 acres from A-1 to A-2 located on the East side of Montana Rd between Stafford Rd and Stafford Terr.

 

Commissioner Hay moved and Commissioner Hood seconded to approve Resolution No. 09-49 rezoning approximately 24 acres from A-1 to RE and approximately 10 acres from RE to A-2 and  approximately 45 acres from A-1 to A-2 owned by Edward Ferguson located in Section 30, Township 15, Range 20.  All voted “yes”.

 

Commissioner Hood moved and Commissioner Farrell seconded to adjourn at 6:52 p.m.  All voted “yes”.
