RESOLUTION NO. 05-83

A RESOLUTION SETTING THE SALARY OF THE ELECTED OFFICIALS FOR 2006

WHEREAS, Franklin County is a duly organized body politic imbued with the powers of home rule under K.S.A. 19-101a; and,

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is responsible for the management of the business and concerns of the county; and,

WHEREAS, the public has a legitimate interest in knowing the salaries of all elected officials working on their behalf; and,

WHEREAS, the Supreme Court of the State of Kansas has ruled that no elected official has an expectation of a continued level of salary; and,

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners desires to set the salaries for all elected officials annually in accordance with the county’s new pay plan:

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED

BY

THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF FRANKLIN COUNTY THAT:

Beginning January 1, of 2006 and for calendar year 2006 the salaries for elected officials shall be as follows:

The salary of an individual Commissioner shall be $15,620 annually.

The salary of the Sheriff shall be $59,150 annually.

The salary of the County Attorney shall be $59,070 annually.

The salary of the Register of Deeds shall be $42,500 annually.

The salary of the County Clerk shall be $42,200 annually.

The salary of the Treasurer shall be $40,945 annually.

The Board of Commissioners reserves the right to reduce any salary in order to maintain the overall financial health and well being of the County.

This resolution shall be effective upon its adoption by the Board of County Commissioners and its publication in the official county newspaper.
