RESOLUTION NO. 06-014

 

A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE QUALIFYING REGIONAL STRATEGIC PLAN AND REQUESTING THAT THE SECRETARY OF COMMERCE & HOUSING RE-APPROVE THE COUNTY OF FRANKLIN AS A KANSAS ENTERPRISE ZONE DESIGNATED NON-METROPOLITAN BUSINESS REGION

 

            WHEREAS, a Regional Strategic Plan, required by K.S.A. 74-50,116 (c)(2), has been reviewed, updates, and adopted by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Franklin on February 15, 2006; and

 

            WHEREAS, a regional business incentive of two years free membership in O/FCED will be offered to all qualified businesses in the County; and

 

            WHEREAS, additional county-wide business incentives of tax abatements will be considered for all qualified businesses in the County; and

 

            WHEREAS, all qualified businesses in Franklin County will be notified of the availability of the business incentives indicated above by and through the local news media and periodic business newsletters; and

 

            WHEREAS, The Board of County Commissioners of the County of Franklin has received an Opinion Letter from the County Attorney finding compliance with the Kansas Enterprise Zone Act, K.S.A. 74-50,113 et seq., as amended:

 

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Franklin that the Secretary of Commerce 7 Housing is hereby requested to re-approve the County of Franklin as a designated non-metropolitan business region pursuant to the Kansas Enterprise Zone Act.

 

            PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Franklin on this 15th day of February, 2006.
