RESOLUTION NO. 06-065      

A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A NEW COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN IN ACCORDANCE WITH K.S.A. 12-747 ENTITLED FRANKLIN COUNTY KANSAS 2006 – 2026 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN

WHEREAS, Franklin County, Kansas is a county municipal government, organized pursuant to Kansas Statutes K.S.A. 19-101; and

WHEREAS, the Franklin County Board of County Commissioners did by Resolution #23-91 create the Franklin County Planning Commission as provided in K.S.A. 12-744; and

WHEREAS, the Franklin County Planning Commission did cause an update of the 1997 Comprehensive Plan, Franklin County Kansas to be prepared as provided in K.S.A. 12-747(a); and

            WHEREAS, the Franklin County Planning Commission published a notice on July 28, 2006, that a public hearing would be held to adopt a new County Comprehensive Plan as required in K.S.A. 12-747; and

            WHEREAS, the Franklin County Planning Commission did, on October 52, 006, hold a Public Hearing for the consideration of adopting a new County Comprehensive Plan as prescribed by K.S.A. 12-747(b) and K.S.A. 12-743; and

WHEREAS, after due consideration of all written reports, maps, tables, policies, objections and testimony, the Planning Commission, by unanimous vote of those members present, finds such New Comprehensive Plan Entitled Franklin County Kansas 2006 – 2026 Comprehensive Plan, to be in the public interest and will promote the health, safety, convenience, prosperity and general welfare of the citizens of Franklin County, Kansas; and

WHEREAS, the Franklin County Board of County Commissioners, after duly reviewing the Draft Comprehensive Plan together with the recommendation of the Planning Commission, finds the New Comprehensive Plan to be in the public interest.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Franklin County Board of County Commissioners does hereby approve the adoption of a new County Comprehensive Plan entitled “Franklin County Kansas 2006 – 2026 Comprehensive Plan”.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Franklin County Board of County Commissioners this 18^th day of October 2006.  This action shall become effective upon publication in the official county newspaper.
