RESOLUTION NO. 07-074

                WHEREAS, the intersection of Woodson Road and Nebraska Terrace in rural Franklin County, Kansas, is formed by the convergence of a minor north-south road, viz Nebraska Terrace, and a minor east-west road, viz. Woodson Road; and

                WHEREAS, K.S.A. 8-2002, authorizes local authorities, including counties, to designate any highway as a through highway or designate any intersection or junction of roadways as a stop or yield intersection or junction, and

                WHEREAS, K.S.A. 8-2008, authorizes local authorities to erect and maintain stop signs, yield signs, or other official traffic-control devices upon highways under their jurisdictions; and

                WHEREAS, Section 2B-5, Number 1, of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices, provides for the placement of a stop sign where the application of the normal right-of-way is unduly hazardous; and

                WHEREAS, a traffic study indicates that sight distance for traffic in the northeast quadrant of the intersection of Woodson Road  and Nebraska Terrace is limited by vegetation, and

                IT IS THEREFORE recommended that a stop sign for northbound traffic on Nebraska Terrace be installed at the intersection of Woodson Road and Nebraska Terrace.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

OF

FRANKLIN COUNTY, KANSAS
 

                THAT the Board of County Commissioners hereby directs that a stop sign for northbound traffic on Nebraska Terrace be installed at the intersection of Woodson Road and Nebraska Terrace.

                This resolution shall be in full force and effect following its adoption and publication in the official county newspaper, and the actual installation of the aforedescribed stop sign.
