A RESOLUTION CHARGING OTTAWA/FRANKLIN COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TO CREATE A STRATEGIC PLAN TO RETAIN FRANKLIN COUNTY AS A NON-METROPOLITAN BUSINESS REGION DESIGNATION
WHEREAS, A regional economic development organization, known as the Ottawa/Franklin County Economic Development Corporation has been established; and
WHEREAS, The Ottawa/Franklin County Economic Development Corporation was incorporated in the State of Kansas and registered in Franklin County; and
WHEREAS, The Ottawa/Franklin County Economic Development Corporation has a membership representative of all geographic areas of Franklin County; and
WHEREAS, The Ottawa/Franklin County Economic Development Corporation has a membership representative of all types of businesses and industry resident in Franklin County; and
WHEREAS, The Board of County Commissioners of the County of Franklin is represented on the Board of Directors of the Ottawa/Franklin County Economic Development Corporation; and
WHEREAS, The Board of County Commissioners of the County of Franklin is a supporting and active member of the Ottawa/Franklin County Economic Development Corporation: now, therefore;
BE IT RESOLVED
BY
THE BOARD OF FRANKLIN COUNTY COMMISSIONERS,
That the Board of County Commissioners hereby declares that the Ottawa/Franklin County Economic Development Corporation meets the requirements of K.S.A. 74-50,116(c)(1) and;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Kansas Secretary of Commerce and Housing is herby requested to acknowledge the Ottawa/Franklin County Economic Development Corporation as a qualifying regional economic development organization for the purpose of approving and re-approving Franklin County as a designated non-metropolitan business region.
WHEREUPON, the Board of County Commissioners of Franklin County, Kansas, passes and adopts this Resolution in regular session on this 24th day of September 2008.
