FRANKLIN COUNTY, KANSAS

 

RESOLUTION NO: 09-06

 

A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE LAKE REGION SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN

 

WHEREAS, K.S.A. 65-3401 et seq., encourages the several counties of Kansas to join together in establishing regional groups for the purpose of developing workable plans for the management of solid waste, in lieu of separate county plans; and

 

WHEREAS, Franklin County, Kansas is a municipal government with the authority, pursuant to K.S.A. 12-2901, et seq., to enter into agreements with other governmental entities; and

 

WHEREAS, The Board of County Commissioners entered into an interlocal agreement among the counties of Anderson, Coffey, Franklin, Linn, Miami, and Osage in 1993 for the purpose of creating a Lake Region Solid Waste Management planning authority to develop and adopt a regional solid waste management plan pursuant to K.S.A.  65-3401 et seq.; and

 

WHEREAS, a regional solid waste management committee was created in September 1993 and said committee has met to review, revise and submit to the counties a Lake Region Solid Waste Management Plan and said plan was presented to the Lake Region Solid Waste Authority on Nov. 25, 2008 and to the Board of County Commissioners on January 30, 2008.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Franklin County Commissioners do hereby adopt the Lake Region Solid Waste Management Plan.

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED, by the Board of Franklin County Commissioners this 28th day of January 2009.
