BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF

FRANKLIN COUNTY, KANSAS

 

RESOLUTION NO: 09-10

 

A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE UPDATED FRANKLIN COUNTY STRATEGIC PLAN AND REQUESTING THAT THE KANSAS SECRETARY OF COMMERCE CONTINUES TO DESIGNATE FRANKLIN COUNTY AS A KANSAS NON-METROPOLITAN ENTERPRISE BUSINESS REGION.

 

WHEREAS, a Regional Strategic Plan, required by K.S.A. 74-50, 116(c)(2), and specific to Franklin County, Kansas, has been updated and reviewed by the Board of County Commissioners of Franklin County; and

 

WHEREAS, business incentives such as property tax exemption, tax increment financing, neighborhood revitalization act, technical assistance, application for grant assistance, low-interest revolving loan funds, participation in utility extensions and infrastructure improvements, etc., may be offered to qualified businesses in the County; and

 

WHEREAS, qualified businesses are notified of the availability of these incentives by making information available by and through the local news media, periodic business newsletters, County Commission meetings and the county website; and

 

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Franklin County have received an Opinion Letter from the County Counselor finding compliance with the Kansas Enterprise Zone Act, K.S.A. 74-50, 113 et seq., as amended,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of County Commissioners of Franklin County do hereby request that the Secretary of Commerce and Housing re-approves the County of Franklin as a designated non-metropolitan business region to the Kansas Enterprise Zone Act.
