ADULT INTENSIVE SUPERVISED PROBATION:

Adult felony offenders are placed on supervised probation with Community Corrections pursuant to the terms outlined in the Kansas Sentencing Guidelines.  Typically, these offenders have committed serious crimes or have extensive criminal histories.  Offenders are subject to standard conditions of probation and any special conditions ordered by the sentencing Court.

Officers are responsible for monitoring the offender's conditions of probation as dictated by the supervision standards imposed by KDOC.  Occasionally the Court will sentence misdemeanor offenders to Community Corrections, usually when the offender has exhausted other supervision assignments.  The supervision of offenders in the 4th Judicial District consists of the following:

  • Face to face contacts with the offenders in the office and community.

  • Conducting home visits.

  • Employment verification/visits.

  • Observing and collecting urine drug screens and/or breathalyzer tests.

  • Maintaining case files and documentation.

  • Initializing referrals to outside service providers to meet the needs of the offender (substance abuse, mental health, employment, vocational/educational, etc.)

  • Establishing and maintaining collateral contacts with outside service providers.

  • Testifying in court as necessary.

  • Writing and submitting written reports to the Court as needed.

  • Collecting costs and fees for the Court and Community Corrections.

ABSCONDER LOCATION PROGRAM:

Offenders that stop reporting to their assigned officers have warrants issued for their arrest and are then referred to the Absconder Location Program.  Agency staff attempts to locate each of these individuals by making monthly contacts with a variety of community resources in an effort to ascertain their whereabouts.  Once the offender is apprehended they are returned to Court for violating their terms and conditions of supervision.
