It is the dispatcher's duty to answer the telephone and determine what assistance is suited for the situation. The dispatcher then notifies the appropriate agency for response and continues contact with the responding agency by radio until the conclusion of the call. Through a Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, the dispatcher logs all times and information relative to the call. The FCECC presently has 10 full-time dispatchers and one director. The center operates 24-hours per day, 365 days a year. Presently there are 2 dispatchers working each shift with a 3rd dispatcher working during high hours of activity. Franklin County has Enhanced 9-1-1 and is also equipped to receive Phase 1 and 2 cellular and land-line telephone calls. Land-Line Phones When a 9-1-1 call is received from a wire-land telephone within Franklin County, the dispatcher receives the following information on a display screen and map:
Cellular Phones When a cellular phone call is received, depending upon the capability of the phone service provider, the dispatcher receives the following information on a display screen and map:
Remember...Not all Cellular phone calls are capable of providing Phase 2 information. Contact your Cellular phone carrier for more information on provider services.
