Water Wells
Water Wells
A Water Well, as defined in the County Sanitation Code, is any excavation that is drilled, cored, bored, washed, driven, dug, jetted or otherwise constructed, when the intended use of such excavation is for the location, diversion, artificial recharge or acquisition of groundwater.  No person shall drill, develop or construct any private water supply well on any premises subject to the regulations of this Code until he/she has obtained a Water Well Construction Permit from the Environmental Health Department.

Licensed Water Well Drillers
The Franklin County Environmental Health Courtesy List is a current listing of licensed Water Well Drillers. The Courtesy List is available in the Environmental Health Department Office or you can download the list in pdf format by clicking here.

Water Test Kits
The Franklin County Environmental Health Department has water test kits available at no cost.
These kits are provided by Servi-Tech Labs out of Dodge City, KS. There are instruction on how to collect the samples and where to mail the sample for testing.  The cost is dependent on what you want the water tested for.
