About the Motor Vehicle Department... We offer many services to the public, most of which are listed below. The most common ones are renewing license plates and titling newly purchased vehicles. We do NOT issue driver's licenses. That is a state office located at 225 S. Walnut Street in Ottawa. Their phone number is 785.242.1276. We do NOT inspect vehicles at our location. That is done at KDOT, 3182 Highway K-68 in Ottawa on Mondays 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Thursdays 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for all out of state titles or salvage or non-highway titles. |
