HELPFUL TIPS ON OBTAINING A BUILDING PERMIT

NEW CONSTRUCTION, REMODELS, AND ALTERATIONS

All projects requiring a permit will need the following items:

  1. Copy of the Deed

  2. Site Plan Drawings

  3. Two (2) sets of Building Plans/Blueprints (excluding pre-manufactured)

  4. Proof of Water

  5. A completed application form.

New construction may also require the following permits and information:

  1. Septic Permit and soil report

  2. Driveway/entrance report

  3. Special Use Permit

  4. Hardship Application (Temporary Housing)

Permits are not required for the following:
(however all zoning requirements and set-backs still apply)

  1. Detached one (1) story structures less than 200 sq. feet in size and not used for habitable space.

  2. Small remodeling projects not requiring structural alterations.

  3. Agricultural Buildings (NOTE: Agricultural is based on use of the structure, not the type of building).
