About the Planning & Building Department...

The Building Department is responsible for the inspection of all building construction and structural installations and administering and enforcing the Building Codes in the unincorporated areas of Franklin County in order to promote the health, safety, morals, comfort and general welfare of the citizens of Franklin County, Kansas.

The Planning Department is responsible for administering and enforcing the Zoning Regulations, Subdivision Regulations and the Franklin County Comprehensive Plan in the unincorporated areas of Franklin County in order to promote the health, safety, morals, comfort and general welfare of the citizens of Franklin County, Kansas.  The Planning Department is also responsible for administering and enforcing the Flood Plain Area's (FEMA).
