About the Public Works Department... Projects the Public Works Department are currently working on includes a new bridge and upgrade of Missouri Road between Stafford Road and Stafford Terrace, replacement of the bridge 1.8 miles north of Rantoul on Vermont Road, and the replacement of the bridge over the BNSF railroad tracks on west Wilson. Road projects include Montana Road from Sand Creek Road to Stafford Road, Stafford Road from new US-59 to Montana Road, Shawnee Road from Montana Road to Ohio Road, Marshall Road from Nevada Terrace to Oregon Road, Oregon Road from Marshall Road to Rock Creek Road and Nevada Terrace from K-68 south 1/2 mile. The Public Works Department is responsible for the installation of traffic control devices, entrance pipes and the maintenance of roads, bridges, culverts, traffic control devices, and entrance pipes in the county.
