Dust Control

Franklin County offers its residents the opportunity to have a magnesium chloride dust control material added to their gravel road. The County is currently accepting applications for the 2026 Dust Control Program.

The minimum cost of material, labor and equipment to treat a 300-ft strip of road is $546.00, or $1.82 per running foot, plus a $25 administration fee to help offset the costs associated with administering the program. The expected life of the dust control program is approximately six-months, but will vary dependent on weather, traffic counts and other factors. Some residual control will remain even after the road is bladed.

Any resident wishing to participate and receive this service should sign and make payment to the Public Works Department at 1428 S. Main, Suite 5, no later than MARCH 30, 2026, no exceptions.
